1. February 19 – Public Engagement in the Arts

I was pleased to open SANKASET with a dialogue, about the Canada Council for the Arts‘ recent publication Public Engagement in the Arts, between myself and these two leaders:

Flick Harrison – All Round Media Artist

Flick Harrison is a self-made nobody, a renegade artist, an underpreneur, a premiere Vancouver poorfessional, and now a member of the Sunset Community artists-in-residence “Something Collective.” His film, theatre, video, acting, writing and camera work has been seen by millions, been nominated and won awards internationally, and slipped into, under and through almost every Canadian funding niche. His work includes teaching media art to kids, engaging community through art, designing projections for theatre and dance, and international journalism and criticism.

Tara Cheyenne Friedenberg - Creator/Performer

Tara is a Vancouver based performer, creator, dance-theatre educator, choreographer, and the Artistic Director of Tara Cheyenne Performance.  Tara has been nominated for several Jessie Richardson Awards and an Ovation Award for her choreography in theatre. Her latest creation, Highgate (a piece for 5 Victorian characters) will premiere at The Cultch, Vancouver in April 2013.

If you missed the evening,
you can relive the dialogue.
